Grass Tile

After talking it over decided this would be the best grass option. This is not fully tile-able as well.

Grass Tile Exploration

So had a really rough time with this one. Sticking with our hand painted theme tried to develop some tile textures for the roof of our house. Keep in mind these would be used only for that... most likely not on the grand scale of the whole level. Here are some early tests though. These are not completely tile-able yet:

(The flower was just a relic and example of a single thing we could incorporate into clusters to add variety. Will most likely opt against that though and just use some planes with normal maps.)

Have been working with my teammate Ron to develop some very interesting and modular textures for our buildings and environment. With a style and color pallet in mind I set off to create a starting texture for the villages cobble stone floor

Tiles fairly well with the exception of one of the larger blocks I should go back and break into two separate pieces.

Modeling Progress

While my teammate Ron is handling most of the modeling I am working on a few assets. Pictured here are some screen caps of the low poly horse model featured at the center of the village.

Further Flushed out Alien Concept

Starting with some quick concept models my teammade Ron did, I expanded and elaborated on some more assets and final design and structure of the buildings for the village, including: houses, forge, statue and various assets.

Below is a quick layout sketch of the village to show different assets and how they will be laid out:

Here are some concepts for the main houses of the village. The inspiration for the houses was a very zen, nature and asian inspired dwellings; construed more around the environment with natural materials than into it. The walls would be made of wood or brick and the roof would be covered in grass and trees/shrubs.

Some various assets for the village, including: Signs for the vegetable gardens, stumps, mushrooms, different hay bail concepts and a quick color scheme.

Continuing with the Zen/Asian inspired concept. This would be a shrine of sorts to either the village founder or some warrior hero:

Since the ponies are at war with the alien invaders we thought it was important to have a unique asset in the village that would serve as the forge or weapons area. The initial idea was a basement type structure sunk into the ground with a multitude of chimneys coming out the low laying roof. To distinguish the buildings function we see an anvil, water trough and hammers/weapons laying about:
